CNN you disgust me
This morning at the gym I noticed that one of the main stories on CNN was how the situation in Egypt “affects” us.
According to CNN, it is all about the oil.
Oil.
Oil oil oil oil oil.
Ugh.
This may be true in some regard, but I was extremely disappointed to see that this was the ONLY SIDE of the story represented. That Americans feel more strongly about the fact that our oil...

wait a minute…
I don’t think this is why people are in the streets right now.
This does not sound like a resignation speech.
katechristian asked: Hi!
So I was reading your About Me page and I have a question.
I just got the proposed assignment location and field for Peace Corps. I wasn't too thrilled about it as I wanted to be in the Health Extension Field but I got Agroforestry. I wrote an email asking if there was a chance that there might be any kind of placement in education or health anywhere else. What I got...

You point to things with your lips.
You say “that my” or “this my” when describing things.
You can’t think of a word, so you say “Disting,” instead.
You say “oh” after everything other sentence.
You refer to others as “my sistah,” or “my brotha.”

The Popes of Pendarvia
The Decemberists just may be my new favorite band to see live.
Between the humorous stage banter, great mix of old and new songs, epic “Battle of Trafalgar” with audience members, and surprise guest appearance by Shara Worden (who sang on The Hazards of Love) it was quite a show!
While they did not play my hoped for “We Both Go Down Together” I was surprised to find...

What Stupid Trend Will Replace Silly Bandz? →
Hysterical.
Someone sent me these when I was in Ghana so I was all up in the trendz.
Although Ghana was way ahead of the times apparently, those “Rusty Nailz” were just all over the place.

Politics at the gym
I don’t watch the news on television. I sometimes read online reports and people’s notes on tumblr (yes of all places) and watch The Daily Show. I tried to stay up-to-date on current events while in Ghana but it was always really difficult. BBC radio was my nightly entertainment and when the internet was fast enough NPR told me what I was missing out on.
Now that I’m back...

So, did it change your life?
– A student asked me this after one of my five presentations today on the Peace Corps and Ghana.
I had to smile.
Most people think/hope they are going to “change the world”. It only took a 45 minute presentation for this girl to figure out that it’s exactly the opposite in Peace...

Brrrr...
The wind outside makes me never want to leave the house ever again.
It snowed last night. AGAIN.
It feels like the weather is mocking my return. As if it despises me for spending the past two years in 90+ degree temperatures.
The funny (funny?) part is how I remember nights when I couldn’t sleep because I was soaked and literally lying in a pool of my own sweat. I remember cursing the...
